Charting Your Menstrual Cycle
I don't just mean adding the date your period started into your phone calendar. I mean charting, using your temperature and/or cervical mucus to assess any of the following:
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Body awareness
- Thyroid function
- Adrenal function/stress response
- Hormonal imbalances (oestrogen and progesterone)
- Possible reasons for PMS
- Prediction of next menstruation
- Current and future fertility
- Whether or not you are ovulating
Menstrual charting was a GAME CHANGER to my health, and I only started to see a real difference in my health once I saw what exactly was going on inside and could focus my treatment plan on this! (This was just from a couple charts!).
I believe the most important indicator of health within your menstrual cycle is ovulation.
This is the main thing a woman should understand when she charts. You may be bleeding, but are you ovulating? Ovulation can be assessed from temperature and cervical fluid charting
Ovulation is when a matured egg is released from your ovary. Without ovulation we do not produce optimal levels of progesterone, in fact we produce very little if we do not ovulate.
Progesterone is our anti-inflammatory, soothing and calming hormone. So what do you think happens with very little progesterone?? Sore breasts, PMS, tension, heavy bleeds, acne, irregular periods and more. Women NEED to ovulate, whether they want to get pregnant or not.
Menstrual charting provides the portal for you to build a health relationship with your body.
All the knowledge you need is inside of you, you just need to listen.
